What makes the Unfurling midwives unique? We trust in the wisdom and resilience of your body and your baby. We prefer not to intervene, and will give you the time and space to birth your baby, while being present for the support you need. Clients appreciate our calm, quiet, and grounded presence. This is a small practice, so we really get to know our clients. We have time to be thorough and attentive. One or both of us will be at your prenatal appointments, and at least one of us (usually both) will be at your birth. We accept payment through both private insurance and OHP/Medicaid, because we believe that everyone should have access to relationship-based individualized care. We have experience working with clients from a broad range of sexual orientations, gender identities, races, ethnicities, ages, body sizes, incomes, and family structures. |

"I had dreamed of a home birth since I was pregnant with my 1st child, but it had not been an option that was available to me... I had interviewed about 5 different midwifery groups, and they were the first (and only) to use non-gendered language when discussing pregnancy and birth. I identify as non-binary, and it was incredibly important to feel seen and respected. Catherine and Sarah went above and beyond to make sure I had just that. I was finally able to have the affirming care/birth I had dreamed of. If you're thinking about midwife care... Look no further. We welcomed our 3rd babe safely in our living room in July. I never once felt unsafe or not cared for, which were my biggest concerns surrounding a home birth... I have OHP, and our home birth was totally covered..., and Unfurling were well versed in dealing with OHP... I basically never had to deal with insurance. All of this to say, thank you to Catherine and Sarah for all that they do. Midwives are truly magical."

"Catherine and Sarah attended my birth and I couldn't be happier with their skill and knowledge during labor and delivery. I didn't for a second doubt myself or them while I was in labor, birthing or after. My daughter was born extremely quickly, only about 45 minutes after they got to my house. It was 9am or so when they got there and I had been texting with Catherine for a couple hours by that point letting her know what was going on. I just progressed extremely quickly! They were quick and professional and worked together so well. My friend who also attended my birth mentioned to me how amazing they worked together and were so in sync with each other that they barely had to even speak with each other while attending my birth, they just both knew exactly what to do and when to do it! My labor was so fast and intense, but they both made me feel as relaxed as possible knowing that I was in very good experienced hands. I couldn't be happier with my birth experience, even though it was not at all what I was expecting! They paid such close attention to my every want and need. And after my daughter was born they came for home visits to check on us and it was so comforting knowing their skill and the fact that I didn't have to leave home with my daughter for weeks after she was born! Thank you all for the most wonderful birth experience I could have ever hoped for!
